Mmm... bananas
Donovan and Camden got these mesh feeders that you can fill with fresh fruits or veggies. We got them out this weekend for the first time and put some chunks of banana in them.
Donovan chewed and sucked on his for a good 15 min-
Yummy he said!

Camden chewed on his for a little while then discovered it would make a great drum on his highchair tray!

Big Boy Bath
Camden and Donovan have outgrown their baby bath and now that they sit up so well, they got to take their first big boy bath! They were excited to be able to splash together.

New Routines
We are quickly transitioning into a new routine already. It seems like just when we get things figured out, the boys decide they want to do things differently.
Camden and Donovan are enjoying their solid foods. They have done well with all the stage 1 veggies and have recently started the fruits. I haven't found any that they won't eat- yea for good eaters! They will typically each have 1 container of fruit mid morning, 1 container of veggies around 4:30 and baby oatmeal before bed. I am continuing to breastfeed both boys. I am so glad that we have stuck with it and they have been super healthy because of it. They typically nurse 5-6 times a day.

Sleeping... well, this is always a toss up! Lately the boys have been waking about 5:30/6am. I will feed them and put them back to bed where they will sleep until 7/7:30. It's nice because we can get another hour of sleep, take a shower, or eat some breakfast before they wake for the day. The past few days now they have been taking a good morning nap and a good afternoon nap- C will usually sleep 1 1/2-2 hrs, D 1- 1 1/2 hrs. Occasionally they are taking a 3rd little power nap around our dinner time. Bedtime falls about 7:30/7:45 each night which gives Mommy and Daddy some time to unwind (aka- shovel the driveway, go to the grocery store, etc!)

Weekend fun
I've discovered the best way to make both boys happy- give them paper to play with! Here they are working on some of their Valentines

Again with the paper... Camden is helping me with the grocery list
while Daddy and Donovan wrestle around on the floor
Then we read some books

Oh, Camden and Donovan love to help Mom make dinner. Okay, tonight it was more like just warm up some frozen stuff, but I do cook sometimes too!

6 months old!
It's hard to believe that Camden and Donovan are 6 months old already. It seems like yesterday that we found out we were having these two little miracles. They amaze us daily with new skills and are falling more and more into their own little personalities. They are becoming more aware of each other- making feeding time difficult especially with Camden as he stops eating all the time to see what Donovan is doing. So cute! They are both enjoying solid foods. So far they have tried squash, green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and fresh avocado. They also enjoy oatmeal before bed.
Camden William
Camden is a bit over 15 lbs now! Far cry from 5lbs, 8oz 6 months ago. He is a very loud baby, always talking and happily shrieking to anybody who will listen to him. Camden is sitting now with little support but forgets and leans to far from time to time. He is quite the inquisitive little man- he knows how each and every toy on the exersaucer works. As you can see from the pictures he is always chewing on his hands, no teeth in sight yet (thank goodness for this nursing mommy!), but I'm sure teeth aren't far off. Camden rolls from his back to his tummy every time you lay him down, but then forgets that he can roll back over and gets so upset on his tummy! Camden still wants to have a pj party in the middle of the night... eats once during the night and wakes 1 or 2 other times. We have retired his swaddle blanket in hopes that he will find his hand or better yet his paci if he wakes- that's yet to be proven! Camden takes 3 naps a day for 1 1/2- 2 hours each.
Donovan Kyle
Donovan is about 13 and a half pounds now, which is great for a 5lb, 9oz peanut 6 months ago. Donovan is a more passive baby, just like his Daddy (wait, does that mean Camden takes after me? No way!). He loves to observe everything around him. It was fun to watch him at the last twins playdate I went to- he just sat and watched those "big kids" running and playing around him. He does however love to let loose in the jumperoo! Donovan is a Mommy's boy and loves to snuggle, but he about jumps out of my arms when Daddy gets home from work. Donovan is sitting with some support although I really think he could do it on his own. He continues to sleep most nights from 7:45pm till 6am without waking. He takes 3 naps a day, usually about an hour long.
I am still in awe that we are the parents of two sons. They bring joy to our everyday no matter what kind of day we have had. It was a long road to get to this point and we are so thankful for our boys. This made my decision to not return to work an easy one. Keep us in your prayers that Derek's job will continue to allow me to be home providing Camden and Donovan the best start to life.

I thought it would be fun to look back at their arrival post. 6 months ago...

We are so excited to introduce you all to our sons!

The boys arrived Friday, July 31st after an unexpected trip to the hospital on Wednesday. I had a dr appt that morning and the dr was a bit concerned about my blood pressure and labs. So off to labor and delivery I went to be monitored after a quick phone call to a panicked Derek. The dr ended up keeping me over night to continue monitoring me and the boys. After waiting all day Thursday for the results, the dr told us at 9:20 pm that our boys would be delivered first thing in the morning!

Friday morning, at 36 weeks and 4 days the boys entered the world. Camden came first at 8:08am, followed by Donovan at 8:09am. Camden got to give me a kiss and was held for a minute by Derek. Donovan got a quick kiss from me and headed right to the nursery. Daddy followed the boys to the nursery for their tests and baths while they finished up my surgery. Camden was able to come right to my room shortly after I returned from recovery. Donovan was working a little harder to breathe so he got to spend a few days in the nursery so they could keep a close eye on him. Finally Monday night Donovan joined his brother in our hospital room.

We were all released from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. After almost a week at the hospital we were all ready to go home. They boys seem to like their home and are adjusting well. They eat on the same schedule- trying to breastfeed first, then offering some formula until Mom can fill their bellies. They are sleeping well and frequently open their eyes to interact with us.
