Daddy went shopping

Daddy bought his first outfits for the boys!

We went to Indiana this weekend to visit the Ring family for Easter. On Saturday Derek and I went shopping with his parents after dinner. On the clearance rack we found these two Colts outfits (okay, I've been told boys don't wear "outfits" but they're still babies so it works, right?). I asked Derek if he wanted to get them. Never have I seen such little hesitation when it comes to buying anything!

Snow- really?

Can you believe this is what we woke up to this morning! It's April! Now I know it's Chicago but geez! I sure hope it clears up before spring break starts on Friday.
Today is week 20 of the pregnancy! I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going. I had my OB check up today. Lasted all of a few min- their lunch was delivered as I was in the waiting room so I know they were anxious to finish their morning patients. Nurse found the first heartbeat right away- strong in the 150's. The second baby was hiding... took her a little longer to find him. Finally found him hiding way down low- heartbeat also strong in the 150's. He must be the angel resting on my bladder all the time! The dr said that everything is looking good. My thyroid levels were going back down so hopefully that's on the mend. I gained 6 pounds this month (ugg!) She said we'll do the next appt in 4 weeks- good sign she's not wanting to see me more often yet. I'm really feeling the boys more and more now. I hope Derek is able to feel them soon, he's anxious for that.
We started talking about names this weekend. We both finished our lists and compared. I was excited to see that we had several names the same on the list. We hope to have it narrowed down to 4 when the boys come then will see what names fit them. No hints though- we're going to keep the names a secret till they come.

19 weeks- half way there!

19 weeks today! I can't believe that we are about half way through our pregnancy already. The dr said to expect the boys to come around 37 weeks so this would be half way. I feel like I am growing every day.

Yesterday we spent the day starting our registries. The day went pretty much like this:
We entered Babies R Us very excited to start scanning. We quickly filled out the paperwork and Derek was handed "the gun". He was so excited to start scanning. Little did he know his wife wanted to try things out first. So into the cart went "the gun" while Derek pulled this stroller down and wrestled with that carseat and tried out this other stroller. Half an hour later we still have nothing scanned. We are, however, dripping with sweat as we try to not look stupid because we cannot manage to put the pack and play back together. Why do they not put the manuals with the tags so you know what to do? Alright, with the pack and play it was written in the bottom in VERY tiny print. But the stroller, AKA limo, had no such directions. By the time we leave BRU we have only scanned a few items because the rest they will have at Target. So we go through the whole signing up routine at Target- this time I put Derek in charge. Finally we master the kiosk and Derek is again handed "the gun". This time we are ready- skip the big stuff and head right for the odds and ends. Derek can hardly keep up with me- scan this soap, scan these 3 different kinds of pacifiers, scan these onesies- yes, I know they have little sheep on them, it can't all be sports! So we fly through Target and we now have 2 registries started! I still feel like there is so much we need to add (bedding once we pick a nursery theme, swings, bouncy seats, strollers, etc). Twins are going to need so much more than I really let myself believe!

The Big Results

That's right- the Ring tradition continues: boys and more boys! We feel so blessed to have seen our healthy little guys today. They both cooperated so we could see all their parts- stomach, liver, limbs, skulls, even the faces! Derek said baby A was ready for baseball- clutching a fist, ready to pitch. The dr said everything looks wonderful, they are measuring right where they should be. Yea! Here are a few ultra sound pictures:
Baby A (side views, you can see his little fingers in the first picture)
Baby B (side view with the membrane above that separates the babies and a view of his face)

Baby A was on my left side today, Baby B on the right. I believe I felt Baby A kick today for the first time. He was the active baby during the ultrasound so it would make sense. Baby B was scrunched up with his foot right on my bladder- pleasant! Daddy and I went to Kohl's after to each pick out an outfit to wrap up for Grandma and Grandpa Reyelts to open at dinner. Daddy scoped out the Cubs rack first! Yea Baby Boys!

Is it Wenesday yet??

Just 4 more days!!! I am getting so anxious for Wednesday to come! We have our BIG ultrasound then and hopefully the babies will cooperate so we can see the genders. I am so excited to find out what we are having. We haven't talked names much or looked at nursery ideas because we just want to know what to plan for. From our poll it looks like most people think it's going to be one of each. We of course don't care, we just want to know! Then I can start a registry, start picking out colors, shopping... Ooo!

Last weekend our cribs arrived at JC Penny's so Daddy Derek and Grandpa Reyelts took the truck over to get them. Now I have two boxes sitting in the nursery... I want to put them together so bad but we are probably going to wait until we paint so we don't have to worry about them. Here's what we got (minus the bedding of course). They will convert to toddler beds and full size beds down the road.

One crib up, one more to go!

16 week dr appt

Today was my 16 week dr check up. Derek was able to go with to meet the dr and hear the babies. We were able to hear BOTH babies heartbeats- wasn't sure if they'd be able to tell them apart at this point but they were clearly there. Both in the 150's. Everything is progressing nicely. I've gained 2 pounds, blood pressure is good, most labs have come back fine. My thyroid did come back a little abnormal so my dr wants me to see a specialist just for their opinion. Hopefully it won't be anything major- boy, I sure have seen a lot of specialists in the past year! Now we just have our BIG ultrasound to look forward to- hopefully we can see the genders then. Just two weeks until the scan!
